Joy Ride (REVIEW)

If you want to laugh, sometimes at very inappropriate activities, then Joy Ride is your ticket.

Imagine a group of friends set out on an adventure to visit native China to land your bosses dream merger but when you get there you realize that there is more to business - friendship. The merger hinges upon finding your biological mother and she finds out she is actually Korean and not Chinese.

The most telling part of Joy Ride is heart and soul of the movie - friends change and evolve. She wasn't able to meet your Mother (who died) but she watched a video of her wishing she was strong enough to be in her life (her adopted parents shared pictures of her as she grew older with different life milestones).

I think the funniest part of the movie was the basketball scene's with each player matching with one of the 4 leading ladies. Each player gets destroyed and they can't load the bus. They each realize that there is something great about their individual gifts. The character arc at the end (friends break-up and reconnect with apologies) is overdone but seeing the Chinese Sex Cat on the walls was funny.

I recommend watching this at home on a streaming platform. It's a comedy that will catch you off guard.
