"The Blackening" is a masterpiece that left me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I'm kidding but it was a funny comedy.
The Blackening was a funny on the nose comedy - its hard to say if it was worth the theater admission (it was nice to see a funny comedy) but definitely catch this on streaming with a bunch of friends. The film's plot is straight forward - a group of friends rent a cabin to have a weekend getaway and are targeted by a killer.
The cinematography is good. The director creates an eerie atmosphere that sets the tone for the entire movie. The cast's performances are well timed, with each character bringing an interesting take on politics and equality issues in society.
I particularly enjoyed the way the film explored themes of exclusion amongst a group of people, revenge, and redemption, making it a little thought-provoking. If you're a fan of comedy horrors, "The Blackening" is a must-watch. It's a rare gem that leaves a lasting impression on its viewers.
